Sidecarland

New York, New York

New York “Lincolnshire” by Roy.

New York village hall is just down the road from the Bubblecar museum and campsite, they have been holding bike nights for some time now but this is the first time that I have got there. These events start at 5 pm and end at dusk. I arrived just after 5 pm and the hall was already fairly busy. On display in the hall were three racing motorcycles and the kitchen was already serving food. Burgers and hot dogs were £2 each drinks including cans were a £1 as were pieces of cake.

This was a good night with about 50 motorcycles turning up, this included some scooters two trikes and two outfits. One was a Ural and the owner knew about F2 motorcycles. The other one was for sale and I felt certain that the sidecar was an Anson, this was a lovely bit of kit, hinged at the front for easy access the luggage goes in the boot you move the seat to get to the boot space, this is the first of these chairs that I have seen on the road.

The hall was soon crowded with people eating and there were three stalls selling their wares. One club member was selling raffle tickets and these were drawn just after 7 pm. Lots of prizes were there to be won. One lady got lucky and won three.

Another plus for me was the classic cars on display. I spotted an Austin and asked the owner if it was a 1934 model, he looked a bit surprised I had dated it correctly.

This was a really good night out, a terrific effort from the hall members for the next meeting they are having a live band playing. These nights are on the first Thursday of the month, I will go again.
