Sunday morning the Shindig draws to a close and in the afternoon l find a hotel in Bangor by the Sea – Home In the early 1970s l came over on a visit to see a friend David McVeigh & his wife. David had a BMW R60 & Steib sidecar & was a regular visitor to the Elephant Rally, Germany.
My motorcycle at the time was BSA Lighting and l was trying to catch the 04.00am sailing from Stranraer Scotland Ferry. Also l was running on FUMES the last few miles to the ferry port!!
On arriving in Larne l at the docks l was told NOT TO START ENGINE BY THE POLICE which l could not do anyway (EMPTY FUEL TANK) because they suspect BOMB making material strapped under a car on board the FERRY!!! So the COPPER gave me a SHOVE to the nearest petrol station.
Later that evening on the TV the Police had found 50 pounds in DYNAMITE under that car!!
Yes, it was at the time of the TROUBLES.
