Boy did it rain at the Full moon rally, the trip home was a bit damp to say the least. Once home Lesley found out on the news that severe flood warnings had been issued for Ramsey Forty Foot. Funny really, as we knew nothing of this when we left we rode home via the Forty Foot. I thought at the time the water was well muddy and it doesn't normally lap at the edges of the road, also it looked as 60 feet of water was trying to go down the 40 foot drain. The last time this happened in 2008 part of the road fell into the drain. We didn't stop to take a picture as it was chucking it down and the fact that the road might disappear if we did.

So I went out this morning (Monday 1st March 2010) on the 250 to get a couple of pics.

The road said closed at Eairth, but it was passable.
Don't do it with a policeman in veiw as you will get booked, apparently it is an offence to disobey police road closed signs which are normally in place when this happens at Eairth.

The bridge at Eairth over the New Bedford river. The flood banks are doing their job. Note; the houses the other side of the flood bank on the right of picture. We see the water level inside the flood basin somewhere about level with the first floor windows.

The road between Eairth and Sutton, a few more feet higher and we could have a major disaster.
Note; The water is higher than the top of the car on the road.

Here we are at Sutton on the Isle. As it doesn't have a road closed sign or a police road closed sign.
So it is perfectly legal to give the ford a go.

It was deep and fast flowing. As it covered the tops of the marker posts at the mid point, making it around 3 to 3½ feet deep, somehow I don't think I would make it on my little 250, or at least if I did I would have a wet arse.

Even with the mirrors pulled in, I can't get across the foot bridge.

It is no good I will have to pack my camera and use the diversion route.

The start of the Hundred Foot Washes, and to think, Portsmouth Pete said at the Rally over the weekend.
"I can't see why Ely has a boat chandlers as it is no where near the sea"
If you was to sail a boat from here you whould reach Denver Sluice, where you can the sail out into the Wash and then the North Sea.

There you have it, water everywhere, the ironic thing is there will probably be a drought this year!

This was posted for Wheels member Michael Wadsworth who likes to go fording.
