The HSOC Winter Warmer

Reports by Syber Sid your webmaster and Michael - pictures by Martyn and Michael

For Martyn and Lesley it was the turn of the 250’s for the Hedingham Winter camp at the “White Horse” at Edwardstone. The numbers were a little down on the previous year but that meant there was plenty of room in the pub for all.

There is a good selection of beers and ciders on tap, with most of the beer being brewed on site, at The Mill Green Brewery. The Saturday run out left at around 1pm and didn’t get back to well after 5pm, in the dark.  For this weekend Michael had his OZ tent with his Heat pal central heating and he was well toasty.

At Bury St Edmunds, running from Friday to the Sunday, there was a Christmas fair with a large market with loads of stalls, various events going on at many of Bury’s indoor attractions along with street entertainers, bands and groups etc. The traffic was backed up for miles, no problem for the 250’s, just the bike for the job of filtering past and through the traffic.

It rained heavy both nights, but as Martyn said, they were tucked up in bed so it didn’t bother them in the slightest, until it was packing up time on the Sunday. It didn’t seem as if it was going to let up so they packed up in the wet, and then the rain stopped, typical.  With a dry gap in the weather others thought it was time to break camp and Martyn and Lesley said their goodbyes and headed for home.

The clouds looked black, and within 20 minutes of leaving Edwardstone it started raining, just hope those left back on site had everything packed away and not spread on the ground.

So that is the last event  bar one in the Fed calendar before the New Year, it will be interesting to see what 2010 brings, as at present, looking on the Fed website there isn’t too many events in the calendar and it is rumoured that some events next year will be by invite only.

By 1300pm we had yourselves a SIDECAR CONVOY & soon found the very narrow lanes of rural Suffolk to be covered in cow muck/mud/leaves & lots of water(just riding across a plough fields!) our first break was at

http://www.lavenhamarmysurplus.com/ After leaving Lavenham we had 3 x ford crossing http://www.wetroads.co.uk/  to give the outfits awash!

Our next stop was FOOD & tea at The Three Tuns, Cowlinge,on leaving the pub it was dark outside for evening return to the pub campsite.

Saturday evening at The Whitehorse was a very jovial time with the HSOC resident musician Murt to keep us entertained in lively sessions (Murt seems to come from Belgium, see picture)

Bye for now from Suffolk. Michael.
